COVID School Closure Update 5/6/20
Good Evening OLV Families,
I'm sure most of you have heard of the State's decision to close school buildings for the remainder of the year and continue the distance learning model through June 11th (for OLV). While disappointing in terms of not having our students back in our classrooms this year, we continue to work hard to help them grow academically, and even more to grow emotionally and safely in the coming weeks. There is a letter attached from the Archdiocese outlining this decision and our response to it, so please read it carefully and feel free to reach out with any questions.
Speaking of reaching out...please join me for our first EVENING meeting with the Principal tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. Please email Mrs. Green at firstname.lastname@example.org to get the log in information. I hope to see many of you there to answer any questions about school, classes, graduation, etc. and will try to do my best to have or get answers for you; it will also be great to see many of you for the first time in weeks!
While our building is closed, our minds are always open! We need all students to continue putting forth their very best effort on their lessons and work, and promise that our teachers will continue their outstanding efforts to guide, correct, and assess their work. Let's all help minimize the learning gaps that, while inevitable, do not need to be debilitating as we go forward into the new school year in September. Effort counts!!
I know Mr. Hutcheson is working hard with many of you to use, troubleshoot, and track technology with our Chromebooks. Please take a minute to respond to this survey regarding our Chromebooks that our students in grades 3-8 have at home. Here is the link for the survey, which should take less than 5 minutes to complete: https://forms.gle/iU2yD6KMw76aV2Bk6. There was a problem with non-OLV emails, but we think it is corrected now.
Finally, a reminder that Friday is a non-school day according to our schedule (which we will follow at the direction of the Archdiocese), so students should spend the day catching up on missing assignments or completing projects, as teacher Zoom meetings scheduled for Friday will NOT be happening. Teachers will respond to inquiries and emails as usual, but have some virtual retreat activities scheduled and may be sporadically available.
As always, even in these strange time, please ALWAYS BE KIND and know that our prayers and thoughts are with our OLV Family - even remotely!
Mrs. Gorman, Principal - Our Lady of Victory
