Our Lady of Victory Catholic School Awarded $70,000 Technology Grant
The Our Lady of Victory Catholic School was recently awarded a $70,000 grant from the Marion J. & Henry J. Knott Foundation The Marion I. & Henry J. Knott Foundation to help expand the technology offerings for students in grades 3-8 by providing them one-to-one access to Google Chromebooks for use in instruction, collaboration, and project development.
This grant, more than a year in the development, planning, and request phases, will have a tremendous benefit for the students at OLV. "By eliminating bottlenecks in the available machines in the Computer Lab, our Chromebook program will allow students to access technology at all times in every class when appropriate for instruction or work. This will enhance the learning we can do and allow for our students to expand their horizons even further by seeing the connections between topics and subjects in school," said Mr. Jim Hutcheson, Technology Coordinator for Our Lady of Victory.
The next few months will be spent in purchasing, installation, and training for the faculty and staff on the new equipment. The school has been converting to the use of G-Suite for Education, a free suite of software applications designed for schools to take advantage of technology and cloud storage of information and data, over the past 12 months, and this grant represents the culmination of Our Lady of Victory's technology development and expansion that began almost five years ago with improved wireless infrastructure, increased bandwidth, and upgraded computer technology in
accordance with the school's strategic plan.
The Knott Foundation, a Catholic family foundation in Baltimore, has been instrumental as a partner for OLV in this evolution, providing key startup funding to the needs of the school as it seeks to deliver the highest quality Catholic education with an emphasis on faith formation, academic excellence, and service to others based on Gospel values. The Our Lady of Victory Catholic School would like to thank the Knott Foundation for their generous grant grant to the school.
