Weekly Update 2/5/20
Good Afternoon OLV Families,
It was good to see more students back at school today; this last week or so has been rough with the number of students out sick. As a reminder, PLEASE keep your students home if they have either vomited or run a fever in the previous 24 hours - this helps all students and teachers to prevent illnesses.
As we begin our school-wide celebrations and learning about Black History Month, we recognize the contributions of so many saints, inventors, and famous people that sometimes we lose track of the Church's role in the establishment and celebration of this month each year. Black Catholic History Month was established in 1990 through the advocacy of the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus. During the same year, the first celebration of Black Catholic History Month began in November in various cities in the United States with the celebration of St. Martin de Porres’ Feast Day. On November 3rd of that year, a liturgy celebrated the 150th anniversary of St. Martin’s transition to eternal life.
Please read the attached update for the week and be sure to spread the good word about the upcoming Bull Roast that is only a month away - we are selling tickets each day and it looks like another great event for the families and the community that make OLV so special!
Have a Blessed remainder of the week!
